Library Grade 5 and 6
Here is a brief overview of the library program. Students in grades five and six will be receiving library grades. As a result of the new report card format, these grades will be incorporated into the Reading and Language Art sections of the report card. Class work done in the library will be included in the Reading/Skills section and book reports will be included in the Language Arts/Written Communication Section. Students will be required to submit a book report several times a year. These reports will now be completed during library class, rather than at home. Students will be notified in advance of these book report dates In class assignments will be based on the library section of the students English text books. All students are expected to spend time reading a book while at the library. Students may check out a book from the library or bring in a book from home to read during this time.
There are a few things that I ask the children to have for library. All students will need a separate one-subject notebook and a pen, which they should bring to class each week.
Library books will be due one week after they are checked out. Students in Grade 5 and 6 have library on Wednesday. No student may check out a book if one is still outstanding. If any books are lost a fee will be charged for the cost of a replacement.
I look forward to a great year with your child.
